Major General Barbara R. Holcomb, RN, BSN, MSN

General Barbara R. Holcomb is a Director of the Company and a member of the Compensation Committee.  General Holcomb is a retired Army Major General, having served 33 years as a leader in Nursing, Healthcare, Medical Research and Logistics.  She served in command positions at every rank from Captain onward.  She was deployed to Iraq during Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm; to Kosovo during Operation Joint Guardian; and to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.

Most recently General Holcomb served as the Commanding General, Medical Research and Materiel Command at Fort Detrick in Frederick, Maryland, and as the 25th Chief, U.S. Army Nurse Corps.  The Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND), responsible for administration of the Company’s $40M contract with the Department of Defense, is located at Fort Detrick.  General Holcomb retired in June 2020. In addition to Humanetics, she serves on the Executive Board for Q30, Avem Health Partners and Maxwell Biosciences, Inc.

General Holcomb is a 1987 Distinguished Military Graduate of Seattle University Army ROTC, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  She subsequently earned a Master’s degree in Nursing Administration from the University of Kansas, a Master’s level Certification in Emergency and Disaster Management from American Military University, and a second Master’s degree in Military Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, PA. 

As a Veteran, General Holcomb continues to serve by volunteering a clinical nursing shift once a week in the Brooke Army Medical Center Emergency Department.  She is Vice President for 360MVP, a non-profit organization in the San Antonio area.  She is also on the executive board for The Geneva Foundation, BioBridge Global, and the Military Affairs Committee for the San Antonio Livestock Exhibition and Rodeo.

General Holcomb is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association, the Army Nurse Corps Association, Sigma Theta Tau International, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Association of U.S. Army, and the Military Officers of America Association.

General Holcomb has served as a member of the Board of Directors since 2023.
